I love to read in 4 different genres, that would be Urban Fantasy, Dark Fantasy, Horror, and Science Fiction. Not to say I don’t enjoy a good Epic Fantasy if I happen to be on a 22-hour flight, but other than that, I read the short punchy stories that get to the point.
So, what do I write and where does it fit? The only people that really care are the book snobs, Amazon, and critics. I write the story, it is a fiction / fantasy story, I like them to be in an Urban setting, and I like it to be scary, gritty, and funny at the same time. I like the twists and turns, I like to make you think you know what’s going to happen, then flip you on your head. I’m of the opinion that the story line / the plot is the most important thing. It’s got to move fast, it needs to stir your emotions, and it must entertain you.
One of my mentors told me not to worry about the genre, worry more about writing a good story. I have taken that to heart and made it my goal to attempt to write a good tale and fit it in where I can. Hopefully you enjoy The Darkside of Good, which comes out 11/05/2019.
